The Develius modular sofa by Edward van Vliet is built with a wooden frame, no-sag springs, HR foam, and polyester wadding — a construction that gives each module the kind of long-term comfort that reveals itself slowly, over evenings, rather than immediately in the showroom.
Van Vliet, who founded his studio in Amsterdam in 1990 after graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven, approaches design as a journey between dreams and material reality. The Develius is that journey made liveable: a modular system with clean proportions that adapts to the room rather than demanding the room adapt to it.
Modules connect via metal brackets. A pre-installed power outlet (UK or Schuko) is available on request — a considered detail for a sofa designed for people who actually use their living rooms.
